IN HONOR OF LES PAUL, LEGENDARY GUITARIST, GUITAR DESIGNER, INNOVATOR AND INVENTOR

LES PAUL PASSED AWAY ON AUGUST 13, 2009. Les was one of the most well known and respected guitarists that has ever lived. His contributions to the guitar, and music and recording in general are monumentous. His passing is a loss to the guitar community.
Back in ":the seventies", I attended a Chet Atkins concert in the Chicago Hilton ballroom and I sat (the ticket was given to me by a person in the hotel hallway just before the show) in the audience in the seat right next to Les. He was entertaining the crowd from his seat in the crowd and he later went on to record a legendary album of guitar playing with Chet entitled "Lester & Chester".
I had the honor of attending his 85th birthday party at Iridium Club in New York City and Les put on a great show and had a great time celebrating his birthday with many great musicians who stopped by to jam with this legendary guitarist.
Here's an excerpt from Les's bio on Wikipedia.com
Lester William Polsfuss, known as Les Paul (June 9, 1915–August 13, 2009) was a musician and inventor. He was a pioneer in the development of the solid-body electric guitar, which "made the sound of rock and roll possible."[1] He is credited with inventing or discovering many recording innovations including overdubbing (also known as sound on sound),[2] delay effects such as tape delay, phasing effects, and multitrack recording.[3]
His innovative talents extended into his playing style, including licks, trills, chording sequences, fretting techniques and timing, which set him apart from his contemporaries and inspired many of the guitarists of the present day.[4][5][6][7] He recorded with his wife Mary Ford in the 1950s and they sold millions of hit records.
